Cryptocurrency is money that does not exist in a physical sense, but instead in a digital state. An example being Bitcoins or Litecoins.
Mining is the act taken to try to obtain Bitcoins etc. A certain program can be downloaded that runs on the computer and 'mines' for Bitcoins.
